US Open Golf Championship returns to June in 2021
The 121st U.S. Open returns to its regular mid-June date in 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic postponed U.S. Open from June to September in 2020. This year’s U.S. Open tees off on Thursday, June 17 from the South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego with renewed interest after San Diego native Phil Mickelson‘s historic PGA Championship win at Kiawah Island in May. Bryson DeChambeau will be on hand at Torrey Pines this year, to defend his U.S. Open champion status after winning last year’s Open at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY by 6 strokes over Matthew Wolff.
Odds makers currently have Dustin Johnson as the 10-1 favorite to win the 2021 U.S. Open, followed by Jon Rahm at 11-1 and Rory McIlroy at 12-1, as much of the rest of the field is still taking shape in Final Qualifying events across the U.S. and Canada on the Road to Torrey Pines. TV Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 17th on NBC and the Golf Channel with final round coverage starting on Sunday, June 20th.
